The Weekend Update

This weekend was me being a "selfish New Yorker."  I was so excited to get back to my old routine of relaxing, working out, laundry, shopping, and the per usual dinner with friends!

The last couple days have been so nice outside and Friday night I went out with my roommate and her best friend.  We went to Draft Bar, in the Lower East Side.  I was so excited because I was finally able to wear my leather jacket again! It got up to 48 degrees and everyone was so excited.  This was the first really really nice day NY has had in a while.  I even wore leg warmers instead of tights!

Saturday was just a day of lounging and relaxation.  The weather wasn't the best, but it wasn't the worst either.  Later that night the gang was scheduled to dine at Savore, on Spring Street in Soho.  Absolutely amazing dinner! The food was, hands down, some of the best food I've had while being in New York.

Sunday was another day of lounging and then some laundry.  I ended up not making it to church and went to candlelight yoga instead. So relaxing.

I hope you all had a great weekend as well!

HAPPY
VALENTINE'S DAY

Remember that Valentine's Day isn't necessarily about being in a relationship, but more about celebrating the ones you love!

The Weekend Update

Happy Saturday!!!

Today I'm headed into the city to try on some frames for the new glasses that I'm getting.  So excited to check out Warby Parker, the hip trendy Tom's Shoes-for-eyes store, that is located in Union Square.

I absolutely love the city on the weekends! I can't wait to move back to wake up and look out of my shoebox-of-an-apartment and see the hustle and bustle of the other Manhattanites running their weekend errands.

Last night I went to The Fat Radish with Kelly and had the opportunity to meet another one of her friends. With a trendy atmosphere and located in the Lower East Side/Chinatown, this was the perfect place for three single women to enjoy a beyond wonderful meal.

We started with the snatch egg and grilled cheese with pickles and then moved on to our entrees. Kelly had the cheesburger with bacon and duck fat chips, Nina had the monkfish with curry and bean chutney, and I had the wheat tabouleh with pomegranates and winter berries.  For dessert we finished off with Dark Chocolate Rum Bread Pudding in Caramel.  OH MY GOD!!!! I didn't think Heaven could come on a plate.  It seriously was one of the best desserts I've EVER had.

Tomorrow is Super Bowl 45!!! The Green Bay Packers vs. The Pittsburgh Steelers!  I think I'm going to have to root for Green Bay on this game for the sole fact that mostly everyone I know is either from WI already or is a HUGE  Packers fan.  So for my brother and best friends this one is for you guys! GOOO PACKERS! :)

I hope you all have a great weekend! Stay warm!

Thoughts in Motion

As the cool, crisp air awakens my face as I run past the water on this wintery weekend, I begin to think deep into the fact that I am living in New York City, by myself.  Tomorrow I will will wake up and go to work, a job in which I love doing and couldn't be happier with, but one that I didn't have upon my arrival back to the City, and the next day I will write a check addressed to my landlords to pay for this shelter that one calls an apartment.

It's moments like these when I really feel like my move to New York has been an out-of-body experience and I am so blessed to have so much support back home, always telling me "that I could do it."  I always knew that New York City was where I was meant to end up and I had to live here at some point, but I never knew it would have worked out the way it has.

Moving to New York was done subconsciously.

I still think back to this summer and the moment that I decided that this was actually what I wanted to do. The moment that I actually hit Submit on my computer screen purchasing a one-way ticket.  The moment I realized that moving to New York was going to be in the cards.  It was going to happen!  I can't tell you how many nights I argued with my parents about being able to afford living in New York City.  I just knew it would work out.  I had no idea how, but I knew it was what I had to do and knew that eventually everything was going to be okay.  "How do you think you're going to afford rent and loans and expenses?"  I would just respond with, "I DON'T KNOW. I'll just figure it out when I get there!"  I didn't really ever think about how it was going to work out.  I moved here, started living with and relying on the support of my friends already here, and tried to work hard and find a job.  With the love and support of my NY friends, I did it.  Finally one day I had a job of my own and then a month later had my first apartment.  WOW!!!!

If you ask me today how it happened, I would just say, 'I have NO IDEA."

I moved here with 2 tote bags, 2 suitcases, and 1 really big DREAM

Just some weekend food for thought for you all! :)
