The Chic Romantic

Gossip Girl made the headband popular and fashionable last year with exotic feathers and precious jewels. Now fashion has tweaked this trend and made it more romantic. Instead of feathers the headbands are placed with soft, delicate flowers. This is to go along with the big "romantic" trend we saw on the runways in Fall 2009, for the Spring collections. Sheer tops, soft pastels, and feminine lines have brought the romantic days back to fashion, ladies. I think it's great. I love when fashion allows women to express themselves in such a freeing manner. In this tough economy, I think it's just what we need. And who doesn't love a little romance. The headbands shown above are great ways to "romanticize" any outfit. Also, the great thing about headbands is they allow you to look dressed up without a single worry. Throw one of these on before heading out to run errands and you'll look great! Let's face it, all this economy needs is a woman's touch.

Confidence is Key!

Maybelline Moisture Extreme Lipcolor

When it comes to self-image, I have read almost ever tip there is! I used to be really self-conscious when I was becoming an adolescent, and I do admit, I still have some issues that I deal with every day (I mean c'mon, we're our own worst critique when it comes to boobs, butt, belly, thighs, legs, etc.), but I know that whenever I feel "unpretty" or I'm not confident in my look I can always rely on one thing to help me feel better. My lipstick. I love makeup and to finish off a look, I feel that nothing can beat lipstick. This is why my friends call me "a grandma" because of my love for lipstick. Serriously though, it's the best. A nice dark ruby red for a night out with the girls or a soft neutral (which I chose to wear out last night :) ) can really complete an outfit. My favorite brands of lipstick are Maybelline Moisture Extreme Lipcolor or Chanel Rouge Allure. This is also partly because of my internship at Chanel. Mary Kay is also a great brand, as well.

For me, a lipstick color can make my day. I encourage you to find something of your own that helps your confidence skyrocket. Keep it with you always, and when you're feeling down, get it out and use it!!!!

Patience is a Virtue

One item that has been a favorite of mine has been my black blazer, and when the Boyfriend Blazer became popular, I decided to pull out my lovely, suit jacket, risking the occasional spill (considering the jacket is dry clean only) and paired it with a cute mini skirt and tights or a dark pair of skinny jeans and heels.

Because of this, I have been wanting to find another jacket that I could wear more frequently and not have to worry so much about ruining it, and today was the day! I was at Goodwill browsing for some items for an upcoming costume, and found a gray, Ann Taylor, size 6, two-button closure blazer. After trying the blazer on I knew this was going to be a great purchase, and for a mere $7, and after 3-4 months of looking for the perfect jacket, I have now added this wonderful item to my wardrobe! This just goes to show that, if you are patient and always aware of what's around you, the item you are looking for will show up when you least expect it.

Pearls to Perfection?

Opening my first real strand of pearls

Pearls to perfection?? Well I have the pearls, but in no way, am I perfect; at anything. However, I am constantly looking for ways to better myself and my lifestyle. I enjoy the finer things in life such as: a good wine, a great pilates class, a strong coffee, red lipstick, and a long strand of pearls. It all started when I played with my grandmother's jewelry. I became hooked to fashion and have not stopped "playing dress-up" since. I hope you enjoy my posts and let me know your thoughts on what I choose to discuss and may your lives continue to grow towards a better and more fabulous lifestyle.
