Oscars 2011 Favs

Hosting the night were James Franco and Anne Hathaway...by far one of the best combinations!

Loved Halle's Marchessa strapless.  Does she ever age?

Hilary Swank in Gucci Premiere

Mila Kunis in Elie Saab.

Cate Blanchett stole the night in this beautiful Givenchy

One of Anne's many dresses for the night.  She looked amazing the entire time, I couldn't wait to see what she was going to put on next. Love her entrance in Valentino.

Thoughts: must now watch The King's Speech  & The Fighter.  Black Swan took away so many awards this season, and I need to become famous to attend the Oscars one day! :)

Happy Monday!

The Weekend Update

Friday-after work drinks on St. Mark's, sushi at Zen--50% off so we were able to REALLY enjoy it, going out (but still in the jeans/cardigan I wore to work!)

Saturday-SUNNY. Ran 4 miles, dinner with friend who was in town, then drinks afterwards.

Sunday-SUNNY. Hit the gym, manicure, OSCAR party at Molly's: dinner was homemade gnocchi with sautéed mushrooms in truffle oil and red wine and a tomato mozzarella salad on the side!  A night complete with red wine, 5 other girls who love fashion, and all placed in a trendy West Village apartment. I couldn't have asked for a better night!

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend!

Take the Long Way Home

One thing about NY is that on the subway people tend to keep to themselves.  There isn't a lot of chatter between strangers and everyone is fine with keeping it that way, and most of the time you will find blank stares smeared across their faces with their iPod plugged into their ears.

Well today on my way home from work I encountered the occasional random-conversationalist that steps onto the train.  This man was talking about how cold it was outside.  Now granted everyone in NY today was a little thrown off by the weather because last weekend it was soo nice out and it is almost unbelievable that we could have one day where the weather is up to 48* and the next day it's down to 30* again.  However, the couple he was talking to were already engaged in conversation with each other and started to give a strange and annoyed look to this man when he approached them with his thoughts.  However, they stopped their conversation and started talking to him.

The random man started to discuss the current changes in the weather and compare them to last weekend when it was so nice outside.  I overheard him speak of how last weekend kind of gave him the boost of energy he needed to get out of his winter doldrums.  I thought this was interesting because I haven't really had the winter doldrums.  I am still fresh in the city and am excited about discovering new places, bars, and nooks that Manhattan has to offer.   I think the other reason I never really got the winter doldrums was because I'm starting to train for a 1/2 marathon.  Because of this I have been exercising a lot more than I usually do in the winter months; producing fendorphins (fake endorphins), as I like to call them.

After a couple stops of chatter the man had reached his stop and exited the train, but even after he left I was still thinking about him.  Here it was a Wednesday night around 7pm.  Everyone was cold and tired from work, but this man had so much energy.  So thank you random man for your quirky thoughts and conversation.  You helped bring a smile to my face.  I do appreciate it.

The Weekend Update

This weekend was me being a "selfish New Yorker."  I was so excited to get back to my old routine of relaxing, working out, laundry, shopping, and the per usual dinner with friends!

The last couple days have been so nice outside and Friday night I went out with my roommate and her best friend.  We went to Draft Bar, in the Lower East Side.  I was so excited because I was finally able to wear my leather jacket again! It got up to 48 degrees and everyone was so excited.  This was the first really really nice day NY has had in a while.  I even wore leg warmers instead of tights!

Saturday was just a day of lounging and relaxation.  The weather wasn't the best, but it wasn't the worst either.  Later that night the gang was scheduled to dine at Savore, on Spring Street in Soho.  Absolutely amazing dinner! The food was, hands down, some of the best food I've had while being in New York.

Sunday was another day of lounging and then some laundry.  I ended up not making it to church and went to candlelight yoga instead. So relaxing.

I hope you all had a great weekend as well!

The Weekend Update

Happy Saturday!!!

Today I'm headed into the city to try on some frames for the new glasses that I'm getting.  So excited to check out Warby Parker, the hip trendy Tom's Shoes-for-eyes store, that is located in Union Square.

I absolutely love the city on the weekends! I can't wait to move back to wake up and look out of my shoebox-of-an-apartment and see the hustle and bustle of the other Manhattanites running their weekend errands.

Last night I went to The Fat Radish with Kelly and had the opportunity to meet another one of her friends. With a trendy atmosphere and located in the Lower East Side/Chinatown, this was the perfect place for three single women to enjoy a beyond wonderful meal.

We started with the snatch egg and grilled cheese with pickles and then moved on to our entrees. Kelly had the cheesburger with bacon and duck fat chips, Nina had the monkfish with curry and bean chutney, and I had the wheat tabouleh with pomegranates and winter berries.  For dessert we finished off with Dark Chocolate Rum Bread Pudding in Caramel.  OH MY GOD!!!! I didn't think Heaven could come on a plate.  It seriously was one of the best desserts I've EVER had.

Tomorrow is Super Bowl 45!!! The Green Bay Packers vs. The Pittsburgh Steelers!  I think I'm going to have to root for Green Bay on this game for the sole fact that mostly everyone I know is either from WI already or is a HUGE  Packers fan.  So for my brother and best friends this one is for you guys! GOOO PACKERS! :)

I hope you all have a great weekend! Stay warm!
