Spring, Spring, Spring

Happy Friday everyone!

So I want to say that Spring has Sprung in Chicago, however, it's still quite cold here.  I do enjoy that I can wear my sunglasses everyday, but I would like to replace my peacoat with my brand new trench coat.

Love this look with all the color!!! Such an inspiration for Spring '12.

Anyone Can Cook

“Great cooking is not for the faint of heart. You must be imaginative strong hearted; you must try things that may not work, and you must not let anyone define your limits because of where you come from, your only limit is your soul.”

-Ratatouille

It's crazy to think that two years ago when I was getting ready to graduate from Purdue this quote was my motto.  It still is a great way to live by, but it's interesting how different our paths can be sometimes.  I never once thought I'd be living in Chicago 2 years after graduation.  At this point, New York feels almost like a faint memory.  This city is so unique.  There is so much life downtown during the week and then in the neighborhoods on the weekends. It's almost the opposite of New York.  I'm so unbelievably excited for the summer to come...the beach, the beach, the beach!!! That's all I have been thinking about lately! Last summer, when I came to Chicago to visit, during the summer, I literally fell in love...one year later, here I am!

Back and at it...

Well it has been a while since I have last written....seeing that I'm back from my hiatus I will update you on everything that has been going on.  Once I moved to Chicago the job took off with full speed.  We had a grand opening in Milwaukee, WI and then jumped right into our annual Flower Show.  Both of these events I was executing as opposed to completely planning on my own. A nice transition into what was to come.

In addition to working, I have now hired a trainer to get my body beach ready once June hits...which will be here oh, so soon.  He's great though. I can't say that I leave a workout and am disappointed.  I'm starting to see results as well, which is exciting to say the least. It's been great because amongst all the chaos that my life has become, lately, this is one thing I don't have to think about.

On top of work and working out, I was required to move out of my current apartment by April 1.  Between all that was going on and then moving to the city, not knowing where I wanted to live, I was expected to find a place. After MULTIPLE apartment showings, I finally found one.  I could not be happier with my decision.  I'm in the heart of Chicago's Gold Coast and I absolutely love it.  I'm 2 blocks away from the beach and super close to the train, making my commute to work, very easy!!!! I originally moved into a one-bedroom apt hoping that once more availability opens up I could move into a studio.  Well, I am very excited to say that come June 1st I will be in a lovely, studio-deluxe apt on the 9th floor. :)

Ok, well pictures to come...

For now,

Uninspired

So I've decided to take a hiatus from blogging for a while. Not feeling very inspired lately. Life in Chicago has been interesting. Things are really hard on your own with all your friends in a completely different city. To get through everything I'm going to get back to journaling.

The Weekend Update- First one from The Windy City

Happy Saturday!!!! This weekend is my first official weekend in the city and I couldn't be more excited! wake

First off, I know that pictures of my new apartment are WAY overdue and those will arrive soon.  However, I have to say this is by far, one of the best apartments to wake up in. My room is in the front of the apartment and faces Wells St.  The sun just SREAMS into my room.  Of course my room is also the most decorated and super girly so it's peaceful to up.  I was up around 7 but then pulled the covers over my eyes so I could sleep longer.  Woke up around 10 completely refreshed and ready to go.

Last night was interesting...a couple girlfriends of mine, who have lived in Chicago for a couple years now, brought me to Lakeview to eat at Penny's Noodle Shop.  Great conversation and 2 bottles of wine later, we were at this activity warehouse called, Whirlyball.  Now granted this wasn't at all how I thought I would have spent my Friday night, but nonetheless it was fun.  It was great to catch up with Barbara and Angela.  Not sure what the plans are for tonight, but hopefully hitting up some of Chicago's hot spots.  Would love to catch up with some of my other friends here!!!

Ok, well hopefully the weekend brings a positive energy and a great deal of fun!!!

Happy Weekend Everyone!
Take care, love Blair

Day 2 at 111

Wow! Well I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I accepted the position with the Chicago events team. I have to say, I have also never seen such a fun-loving group. Day two involved a road trip to WI. Not knowing what to expect I anxiously came in to work only to get in a car and do nothing but gossip, laugh, and exchange stories about who we are.  The girls all made me feel so welcome and I LOVED getting to know everyone. We talked about living situations, favorite foods, and etc. We ate lunch at Ruby Tuesdays and then did our walk thru.  Overall the day was perfect.  It completely solidified the reason as to why I moved to Chicago.  I can see myself getting extremely close with these girls and LOVING my job!!!

I can't to one day call myself an actual Event Girl!!!! I only have God to thank for this amazing opportunity.  Seriously, without him, none of this would have been possible...everything has fallen into place.

For now,

It is Wells....

Wall decor at Elly's
Well, the move actually happened.  Much to my surprise and surreal nature about the whole situation, I actually got on a plane yesterday.  I even had to touch the plane to remind myself that, yes, I was actually going to be moving to a completely different city.  I thought that with the closing of one chapter in my life and the start of another, that I should create and entirely new blog to assist in transitioning me; however, that was not the case. After creating the blog and looking through numerous themes, nothing seemed to compare to the greatness of Pearls To Perfection.  This blog is mine.  It was there for me when I was feeling more lost than ever, while back at Purdue, after my last move back to the Midwest from the East Coast.  It has moved with me to NY and has been there as I have discovered a city completely on my own.  I couldn't just stop posting on P2P now!!!! No Way! I have decided that I need to continue to write on P2P even if it's just for myself.  I am onto a new journey in my life, and if you never take risks like this, than what do you have to look back on when you reference your own life experience.
The new blog was actually going to be called, It is Wells....; originating from an hold hymn that we sang when I was little.  It was called, "It is Well With My Soul." I truly feel that God has placed me here because he has a plan for me, and I am VERY ANXIOUS to see what unfolds! I know that I can't go wrong following his plan and I know that no matter what, It is Well.  As a pun on the "Well" I now live on Wells St.  Therefore, it is Wells.
Well I hope you continue to enjoy my nonsensical chatter about random experiences in my life in Chicago.
xoxo,
Blair
